The Board is responsible for governance and the strategic direction of the Association. The twelve directors are members of the Association and are elected by its members at their annual general meetings. The President and Vice President are elected by the Directors. The Board comprises an Executive and three sub committees: Strategic Alliances, Media Relations & Membership Services and Research, Professional Development & Conference.
DR. DAYTON ROBINSON is the Assistant Vice President – Group Human Resources for the Victoria Mutual Group and an Associated Lecturer at the University of The West Indies. He spent the last 18 years in the field of Human Resource Management working in the food & beverages, bauxite and financial industries. He is a highly competent HR practitioner with demonstrated skills in the areas of Leadership, Employee Engagement, Total Rewards, Industrial Relations, Succession Planning, Strategic HRM Planning and Change Management. He currently sits on the Board of Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica (HRMAJ) and is the current Deputy Chairman of the Jamaica Institute of Financial Services (JIFS).
As the son of a teacher and a security guard living in the parish of St. Elizabeth with limited resources, he understands the need to be self-motivated and engaged despite the challenges between him and success and pushed hard to educate himself in various disciplines. He received a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting from the University of the West Indies, a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Florida International University and a Doctor of Business Administration from Walden University.
He also completed other certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) SHRM and Prosci Change Management.
